To participate in a gorilla trekking tour in either Uganda or Rwanda you must present a valid gorilla permit at the entrance. The prices differ in both countries, with Rwanda at US dollars 1,500 per person per trek and US dollars 800 per person per trek in Uganda.   

Since the distance of Bwindi or Mgahinga from Kampala is further than from Kigali, you might want to travel for a cheaper gorilla trek in Uganda from Kigali. It is only around 164 kilometers from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which takes 4 to 5 hours on a safari vehicle. From Kampala however, the distance is around 503 kilometers, which takes 10 to 11 hours on a scenic drive. But if you prefer a faster option of travel in Uganda, use air transportation. This is a 1.5-hour flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip. The remaining journey will be covered by road.
